Advice of BuRO on risks to public health from horsemeat of unknown origin

Horsemeat has recently been found in products for human consumption, without this having been declared on the label. The meat appears to have been processed, into several products through various links in the horsemeat trade. The consignments of horsemeat concerned could have included meat originating from Romanian horses. This raises the question of whether the consumption of horse meat poses a risk to public health.
