Dutch timber importer sanctioned by Netherlands Food and Consumer product safety authority for breaching the EU timber regulation
The Netherlands food and consumer product safety authority (NVWA) has filed a report with the public prosecutor against a Dutch timber importer who has breached the EU timber regulation. The timber regulation prohibits the placing on the market of illegally logged timber. The NVWA has also given the company a non-compliance penalty per cubic meter timber. The company must pay the penalty if they continue to place timber on the market without a fully functioning due diligence system.
