Information for refugees coming from Ukraine and Russia with their pets

© NVWA

Refugees and EU expats who are hastily travelling to the Netherlands from Ukraine or Russia with their pets will find themselves faced with import regulations for their animals. These EU import regulations are in place to prevent animals bringing in rabies, a dangerous disease. As a result of the acute emergency situation, it has been agreed at EU level that import requirements will be enforced flexibly when it comes to the pets of refugees and EU expats from these two countries. This does not apply to pets whose owner has remained behind.

The NVWA, because we stand for the safety of food and consumer products, animal welfare and nature.
